well thats coz we already know that sam can stand up to john. he has done so in the past and unless he is really young (which btw EWWW)he would most likely be able to say no. wheras dean like you said would do anything for john. so yeah while the idea of john with either of them is kinda not right john/sam would be easier to stomach? though i doubt i will ever find a fic where this is entirely if nto plausible at least makes it seem so.
as for the other thing. sam as a manipulative bitch totally, but how can he be that as well as guilty. i figure if he's moping he cannot be half as devious.
